Yes, openings are so important, and they always take the most revision in my case, too. I admire short story writers. That is definitely an art form unto itself!

Thanks for sharing about your book and publishing journey. I enjoyed the part about your dream and how it gave you the idea. Now I have to read this book, just to read this scene.First chapters as so important–they make readers keep reading or pick up another book if it’s boring, etc. I know I always rewrite the openings of my short stories after I’ve revised several times just to start the story at the right place and time of action.
